Rub the butter into the flour, add the sugar, fruit, baking powder and nutmeg and stir in. Mix in the eggs and gradually stir in the milk.
Turn onto a greased 25 cm (10 inch) oven proof plate. Bake at 180 °C / 350 °F / Gas 4 for 35 minutes, until lightly browned and firm to the touch.
Cut into wedges to serve.
