Well what can I say. Saint Peters is the most beautiful spectacular decorated place I have ever seen.
Firstly we visited the under ground tombs of the popes. This was a bit morbid the guards above guard the entrance to the tombs.
Once out of the under ground Basilica. We entered the main part of Saint Peter`s. It was fantastic. A Sunday service was underway and we were lucky enough to be allowed to take part. Headed by the Pope.
St. Peter's Basilica stands on the traditional site where Peter - the apostle who is considered the first pope - was crucified and buried. St. Peter's tomb is under the main altar and many other popes are buried in the basilica as well. Originally founded by Constantine in 324, St. Peter's Basilica was rebuilt in the 16th century by Renaissance masters including Bramante, Michelangelo and Bernini. We learnt about the fate of Peter at the Time Elevator. He was leaving Rome when he came across a vision of Christ. This lead him back into the city were he was crusified upside down. Above is a photo of the main alter were St Peter is buried.
The photographs below and above are of Saint Peter`s.

Moving on we climbed to the top of Saint Peter`s tower. After many many steps we reached the top. This is not for the faint hearted. The climb though was well worth it the views across Rome and the Vatican below were again spectacular. Below are just some of the picture`s.

On way back we took the bus. The bus passed through the Repubblica. This was a very busy place, I decided it was best to see this from the bus as it was too dangerous to visit on foot.
