Were The Beatles Grew Up John Lennon & Paul McCartney

This was a truely amazing visit as we stepped back in time into the homes of two of the ledendary Beatles. John Lennon & Paul Mc Cartney.

Above is the Mendips. John Lennon lived here with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George thorough out most of his childhood. As you walk through the doors you step back in time to how the house was when John Lennon was a small boy. It was an amazing feeling to be in the bedroom were young John would have slpet all those years ago knowing that some of the earlist hits the Beatles had would have been wrote in there.

The National Trust owns the house now, with Mendips being bought by Yoko Ono and given to them to be restored to its former glory.

The sad tale about the house is that Johns mum was killed by a car only a few yards away form the front door.

Above is 20 Forthlin Road. It was here Paul McCartney spent his some of his childhood days. Looking from the outside you can see how the house would have looked many years prevoius. It stands out from the other houses in the road. Inside is again walking back in time you can actually imagine the young Paul living in the house especially as there is many photo`s which were taken by his brother the photo`s are on the walls in the same places around the house were they were taken. Forthlin also backs onto Mather Avenue were the police horses are stabled and trained.

We all really enjoyed this tour ( with also a good view of the horses from one of the bedroom`s were Paul had slept )

The guides who take you around these houses are also really good telling all the tales of the lives of the two Beatles.

For more information about the tours visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/beatles The tours depart from Speke Hall where you are taken by mini bus to visit the houses due to the way they are laid out a visit inside is only possible with the national trust guides.
Well worth a visit for any history fanatic or Beatle`s fan.
