Step back in time as you enter Lancashire`s finest 16Th century Tudor building. Rufford Hall is where a young Shakespeare once performed.
His stage "The Great hall" is a spectacular today as when the Bard was performing for the owner, Sir Thomas Hesketh and his guests.
Shakespeare would have stood behind the giant screen and made costume changes. As you stand in the hall imagine the great feasts which would have taken place within these walls.
The hall was owned by the Hesketh family they built and lived at Rufford Old Hall until the family gave it to the National Trust 75 yrs ago in 2011.
The day we visited we were lucky enough to see a civil wedding going on.
The grounds around the house are stunning we wandered around the gardens and grounds. This is amass of wildlife.
The house itself is set just outside Burscough and nr Ormskirk. To see more about the hall visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk once on the web site look up Rufford Old Hall
