Avebury Manor Wiltshire

Avebury  is such a very pretty little village. Avebury Manor is now owned by the National Trust. We had a lovely time wandering around the village and going into the Manor house. The gardens are very so pretty. Its a real pleasure to wander around. The village has a unique and ancient stone circle which has a magical feel as you walk were our ancient ancestor`s have trodden. Lewes Castle

We climbed to the top of this 1000 year old Norman Castle for stunning panoramic views across Sussex.

The adjoining Barbican House is home to the fascinating Museum of Sussex Archaeology and a mini cinema which tells the story of Lewes and the castle from prehistoric to medieval times.

The Battle of Lewes took place in May 1264 when the armies of King Henry III and rebel baron Simon de Montfort clashed just outside the town walls. The king was defeated. After the battle de Montfort summoned England’s first representative Parliament.

The Battle of Lewes Project, based at Lewes Castle, aims to promote interest in this early struggle for democracy. It is a community project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and will culminate in a special celebration in 2014 marking the battle’s 750th anniversary.

The views from the top of this castle were amazing.

Jodrell Bank Cheshire

We went exploring at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire. It`s quite a fascinating place with the huge dish looming above. The discover centre was really interesting but we found it quite small. The dish was really amazing to see.
