Day With My God Children May 09

This week we met up with my friend Helen and my god children Conner and Abbey.
We had our lunch at McDonalds before heading to Whittington
Here we took the children and Fred the dog for a walk before having a quick look around the car boot.
Helen made her way home after the boot fair. Billy and I brought Conner home with us to give Helen a well earned break.
Conner played for a while with me before we headed to school to pick Aaron up. Here he had a great time chasing the bigger boys around the field with the football.
Soon it was time for tea so we headed to our home. After giving Conner his tea we took him back to his mum and dad. It`s great to be able to hand them back at the end and Aaron would defiantly agree.
Saturday we headed out early. We headed to the boot fairs Aaron found lots of items he was looking for, he has an excellent eye for a bargain. Afterwards we went shopping in Oswestry.
What a lovely chilled out day we had.

May Bank Holiday Camping Angelsey

On a sunny then drizzly bank holiday we all headed to Angelsey camping. Fred the Dog came too along with Me, Billy, Aaron and Aaron`s friend Rhys.

We were determined not to let rain stop play. Reaching camp we set up our tent a 4 berth litchfield. Very roomy and comfortable within two minutes the air beds were inflated thanks to the pump now fitted to the camper. So night time is comfortable sleeping under canvas with are warm sleeping bags.

After setting up camp we then made our tea via a camp fire and the camper van stove. After tea Billy and I took Fred for a walk. The boys (Aaron & Rhys) by this time had made a lot of friends and were happily playing football on the field.

Before bed we had a drink in the camp site bar room.

The site was nice with a swimming pool and was sited near Red Wharf Bay on the south east part of the Island.

It was a pleasant stay even though we had a bit of rain. The final day we all helped to dismantle the tent in no time.

After our visit to Penrth castle we headed home stopping off at Betws y coed for a fish and chip supper next to the raging river and rapids. Here are some photographs of our stop.

This spot on the banks of the river hold special memories as we visited here many times when the boys were small I have many photographs of them both sitting on the rocks. Daniel enjoyed watching the water here when he was small he would long to go in for a swim not realising how fast the water was. I had to keep a very close eye on him at all times.

There is a lovely fish and chip shop across the bridge. The chips are really nice here.

Betws y coed is a lovely place there is a mini railway here which again we visited many times when the boys were small. Daniel adored trains and this was one of his favourite days out. I have not ventured near the trains since he died as the memory's for both myself and Aaron would be far to heart breaking knowing how happy and how much Daniel enjoyed his time here. My book tells many tales of the life of Daniel.

Anyway we started our last leg of our journey home dropping Rhys off on the way. It was gone 7 by the time we came in my leg had gone completely and I was struggling to walk. I checked the shop to find I had near 50 parcels to post. So guess what I was doing most of the day Tuesday wrapping up parcels, along with also going to work to run Kids Club and breakfast club too.

Penrhyn Castle Bangor Bank Holiday May 09

Driving through the main gates of Penrth Castle we entered the grounds. Firstly taking Fred For a walk around the grounds. We then made lunch in the camper. Leaving Fred with his dinner and bowl of water we headed up to the castle.

Well we would all recommend a visit to this one it was beautiful. Set high up a hill with views extending for miles. The surrounding gardens are beautiful with lovely coloured bushes and plants.

Entering the castle we picked up a quiz sheet. I read out the questions whilst Billy, Aaron and Rhys found the answers all whispering them to me in turn to see who was right.

The main hall was spectacular along with many of the other rooms in fact this has to be one of the best castles we have visited. The quiz was really good and they all managed to get all the questions right. From walking through the main rooms we also visited the servant quarters and the kitchens. This is such a brilliant place to explore the boys loved it.

Also within the castle walls is the display of really old steam engines also a model railway museum. We looked around here for some time.

Another display holds a collection of old dolls I really enjoyed this area they were lovely all in fantastic condition for there age.

The day was passing rather quickly so the boys headed for the shop before we headed for home.

South Stack Lighthouse Angelsey May Bank Holiday

On the North West coast stands the South Stack`s Light House. We parked up the camper taking Fred on his lead.

We walked up the land meeting a shire mare on our way. At the top near the edges of the cliffs is the wonderful views of the open Irish Sea. Standing amongst the cliffs on a lone rocky island is the light house.

As you can see from the photographs the views are spectacular. We stood watching as the sea rolled with huge waves below us onto the cliff edges.

Taking and walking the path along the top of the cliffs we headed for the RSPB office and view point. Here you can watch the sea birds nesting along the cliffs. Huge video screens are displayed in the RSPB tower were you can survey the nest of the birds with there young. It is a bird watchers paradise.

After a while we headed back up the cliff to the car park and our camper van.

We did intend to go down and have a walk around the light house but due to my knee I couldn't manage the steps 400 today. My knee has flare ups more regular now a days.

In may 1992 I smashed my knee, ankle and crushed my lower leg whilst riding pillion on the back of a motorbike in Cheshire when a car ploughed into myself and the bike . Over the last few years my knee and lower leg has deteriorated due to bone damage caused by the accident.

My book will tell the whole story of the motorcycle crash and how I lost a baby boy at 20 weeks.

Another horrific incident which still effects my life to this day.

Plas Newydd Anglesey Bank Holiday May 09

Plas Newydd stands on the banks of the not far from menai straits the Britannia Bridge which links the Island to main land Wales.

Standing in magnificent grounds and gardens the house Plas Newydd can be seen after a short walk from the main gate. Behind the house the views across the bay are beautiful.

Entering the house you stand in the main hall way before entering the rest of the house. The house is in fantastic condition with many rooms to explore. Aaron enjoys exploring these old houses and always enters with a quiz which asks questions as you go around the house.

The Rex Whitter room was one of my favourites with a painted canvass from one end of the room to the other. At each end of the room was a painting of coats of arms which looked 3D upon the canvass.

The main picture mural was of Anglesey again this looked 3D in parts. Neptune the god of the sea was also hidden amongst the painting along with other little surprises.

A display of the battle of Waterloo was also fascinating. A huge painting span the width of the room.

One story told of Marquiss of Anglesey Earl Uxbridge who got blasted in the leg by a Cannon shot. His leg was amputated without anesthetic `ouch `. There was a display of his false leg and army uniform in the collection.

After a good look around we headed back to the camper and Fred.

Beaumaris Anglesey North Wales May Bank Holiday

Beaumaris a pretty sea side town on the isle of Angelsey. With spectacular views of across the bay to the main land of Wales. The town hosts a medieval castle which is maintained by the welsh national heritage CADWR.

Blue Bell Walk The Ancient Wood Penybont L.E.

We went of a walk around out village this week. Being an Avon Rep takes us on some lovely walks delivering our Avon orders around out village. Today we walked right to the top of the hills.

Once we had finished our delivery's. We headed up a rocky track and across the walking paths over the hills and the fields. Taking in the spectacular views across the landscape towards our home, which could be seen in the distance along with the other houses within our tiny village.

After living here in Mid Wales for many years and visiting so many places across the UK, Europe and beyond there is no other place anywhere that matches the spectacular countryside views the Tanant valley has to offer. Tanant Valley is such an enchanting place to live without a doubt.

Our walk took us across the fields filled with spring lambs. Down on to the bottom lane which leads to ancient woods with very old tress and filled with very pretty Blue Bell flowers. This was a lovely sight. In this area there are so many wild flowers and it is very pretty this time of the year as it is all year round.

We all enjoyed out walk today in and around our enchanted village.
